Chapter 33. Primary Sources

Context: You have reached a plateau of understanding and need to move beyond the low-level details of language and technology into more academic concepts such as object-oriented design or functional programming.

Problem: You are attempting to learn about an aspect of software development that is too fundamental to learn from blogs, mailing lists, or language-specific books.

Solution: Dig into the bibliographies and book lists of your favorite books, authors, and mentors to find the books that shaped their understanding.

Tracing the lineage of the ideas in the books you have found helpful is an important exercise, and a habit that will serve you well through the years.
